Working closely with administrators, school counselors, classroom teachers, and community partners, the Coordinator builds and sustains pathways that connect students to post-secondary education, industry-recognized credentials, and meaningful work-based learning opportunities aligned with student interests and regional workforce needs. The Coordinator also serves as an evaluator of record for assigned staff.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and refine career pathways aligned with Massachusetts DESE guidance, including MyCAP (My Career and Academic Plan) and Innovation Career Pathways (ICP) frameworks where applicable.
  • Partner with the school counseling team to plan and deliver MyCAP activities across grades 5-12, ensuring developmentally appropriate career awareness, exploration, and planning experiences at each grade level.
  • Collaborate with school counselors on individual student course selection, pathway placement, and post-secondary planning to ensure academic choices align with career goals.
  • Work with guidance to support key transition points — including grade 5 to 6, grade 8 to 9, and grade 12 to post-secondary — so career planning carries through consistently across the grade span.

  • Build and maintain partnerships with local employers, trade organizations, post-secondary institutions, and community-based organizations to expand internship, job shadowing, mentorship, and dual enrollment opportunities.
  • Oversee work-based learning placements, including securing sites, completing required documentation, supporting student placement, and monitoring student progress.
  • Support teachers in integrating career-connected learning, project-based experiences, and industry-aligned content into the curriculum.
  • Identify and coordinate access to industry-recognized credentials, certifications, and articulated dual enrollment courses for students.
  • Track and analyze student participation, outcomes, and post-secondary data — in partnership with guidance — to inform program improvement and reporting.
  • Manage required documentation, compliance, and reporting tied to state and federal career pathway funding sources (e.g., Perkins, ICP grants).
  • Plan and host career-related events such as career fairs, employer panels, college and career nights, and pathway showcases, often in collaboration with the counseling team.
  • Communicate program opportunities to students, families, staff, and the broader community through clear, accessible messaging.
  • Serve as the evaluator of record for assigned staff in accordance with the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Framework, including conducting observations, providing feedback, and completing required evaluation documentation.
  • Serve on relevant district and school-based teams as assigned by the Superintendent or building administrator.
