Job Description

Summary This position assumes responsibility for the planning, executing and monitoring of all state and local College and Career Ready Assessments by performing the following duties. In addition, this position is also responsible for keeping track of the students who are college and career ready and helping the Guidance Department in helping students determine their pathway after becoming College and Career Ready. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned by the Building Principal, Local Accountability Coordinator, Director of Schools or the Deputy Superintendent. Develops a school testing calendar for all state tests, the Accuplacer assessment, PSAT tests, and AP tests. Assist the school counselors with sending letters home with graduation progress in terms of testing and College and Career Ready requirements. Creates a plan, including which staff will be used as test examiners and who will be proctors, where testing will take place, testing groups and all other duties associated with testing. Serves as the technology contract for the building and trains building staff on technology in preparation of testing and during the testing period. Be available at the end of Summer School for all state assessment testing. Maintains paperwork (files) for all state assessments. Maintains a list of students who did not sit for testing or who fails tests and needs to be retested for College and Career Readiness. Provides Remediation and intervention services or classes as requested or assigned. Attends Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss College and Career Readiness with parents. Provides resources for SAT, Accuplacer, and College and Career readiness material. Works with the School Improvement team in developing the School's Improvement plan. Matters database. Guides instructional staff in the utilization of data analysis. Serves as the building SLO lead. Meets with teachers to help them get their Student Learning Goals (SLO's) into Performance and create assessments as needed for these goals. Serves as the liaison between the teacher and the Local Accountability Coordinator. Collaborates with Instructional Supervisors and other Instructional staff on County initiatives. Assists with gradebook checks and classroom walk-throughs as needed. Provides professional development as required. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and have a good attendance record. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of education. A Master's degree is preferred. At least five years of successful classroom teaching. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations A valid teaching certificate issued from the State of Maryland. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional and trade journals, technical procedures, or instructional textbooks and instructional aides. Ability to write reports, detailed lesson plans, and procedure manuals as directed. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, administrators and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts related to school finance and resource planning. Ability to apply concepts of basic statistical analysis for instructional improvement. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to identify professional development needs, develop/implement/lead/evaluate professional development activities to fulfill areas of need in order to increase teacher knowledge, skills, and confidence to support teachers. Technology Skills Ability to access and use Internet resources as well as to effectively use presentation, instructional, and administrative software. Ability to expand job knowledge as new technology applications develop through training and participation in workshops and professional development. Proficiency in current and emerging technology to support all learners. Other Skills and Abilities Must possess strong communication and organizational skills. The ability to motivate others to perform well and give feedback is essential. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with instructional facilitators, teachers, and students in grades K-12. Other Qualifications Must be able to travel to In-County and Out-of-County meetings and training sessions. Must be dependable ensuring that work responsibilities are met. Arrives for appointments and meetings on time. Join various professional organizations and reads professional journals and other publications in order to remain current in the development of the profession.
