Job Description

Under the direction of the CTE office, provide leadership and daily support in implementing of the high schools individualized career counseling initiative and connection to college and career readiness. Provide leadership to school-based staff and community stakeholders while working closely in the planning, monitoring, and developing of career counseling plans. Lead the Blueprint for Maryland career counseling initiative in coordination with the CTE Office and in partnership with the School Counseling department to ensure students are counseled into viable career pathways. Provide daily support to teachers and staff, assist with professional development activities, and monitor data, student engagement, equity, and access. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in an applicable field. Master's degree preferred. Three years of successful teaching experience in an area related to the position duties.
Licenses and Certificates :
Possession of a Maryland Educator Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment. OR Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator License appropriate to the area of assignment. Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional License appropriate to the area of assignment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy. Knowledge of curriculum. Knowledge of effective instructional techniques. Knowledge of instructional materials, and equipment. Knowledge of CTE programs, articulations, and certifications. Knowledge of current issues and trends in content area. Skill in instructing students. Skill in preparing and implementing lesson plans. Skill in the use of data analysis, professional learning communities, instructional leadership, and spreadsheet, word processing and related applications. Skill in communicating with students, their parents, administrators, business partners, and other stakeholders. Coursework and/or experience which supports knowledge of curriculum development and supervision. Demonstrated expertise in appropriate content areas, including age-appropriate career development for students.
Technology competency:
knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications. Outstanding communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to implement and model effective instructional strategies in the classroom.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
: The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom. Work requires connecting to community partners, including visits to local stakeholders.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
: Requires attendance at after-school and evening meetings and events.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US. If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214. Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via e-script/clearinghouse from your university. Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing. All newly hired personnel must attend a Benefits and Retirement Orientation meeting. Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.

Develop and facilitate program advisory/planning committees of key stakeholders, including parents, students, faculty, school administration, and community and partnership representatives with the CTE teachers. Plan and implement individual and group instruction in career pathway planning. Work with students to identify potential work-based learning placement options. Support the recruitment of area business partners to assist with career development activities, including work-based learning placements. Implement yearly National Alliance for Partnerships for Equity (NAPE) Program Improvement Process for Equity (PIPE) program. Prepare school-based strategic plan for Blueprint for Maryland progress. Work with the advisory/planning committee and the Office of CTE staff to develop promotional materials, plan events, develop business/community partnerships, conduct outreach and recruitment, and monitor enrollment and other relevant data. Research and disseminate literature to school-based staff on areas related to the specific CTE programs such as content and standards-based curriculum, technology integration, value-added certifications, and innovative instructional approaches. Assist the Office of CTE staff to coordinate data collection. Serve as the CTE liaison between the school and the Office of CTE. Serve as the CTE program point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Serve as a liaison to Baltimore County Workforce Development and CCBC resources and contacts. Serve as liaison to counselors and staff in feeder middle and elementary schools to support career development activities spanning across grade levels leading to a strong high school planning process for all students. Coordinate site related CTE activities for staff and students (e.g., student recruitment, summer program, speaker series, job shadowing opportunities, field experiences, professional development, and advisory/planning meetings). Lead implementation of school-based summer camp for career development activities. Complete and submit monthly and quarterly reports pertaining to career development projects and work-based learning. May support the school by instructing and supervising students in a variety of school-related settings. Performs other duties as assigned.
