GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Supervisor of Supported Employment oversees the daily operations of supported employment programs that assist individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment in obtaining and maintaining meaningful community-based jobs. This position provides leadership, supervision, and support to employment specialists, job coaches, and case managers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that align with organizational goals and funding requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Basic Life Support certification required; ACLS preferred. Master's degree or equivalent in Vocational Rehabilitation, Human Resource Development, Social Work, or related human service field. Michigan Chauffeur's Driver's license required and own vehicle with an insurable driving record. 2 years' experience working with people with severe mental illness, experience with vocational services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred. Experience in job seeking skills instruction, job placement, and job development in supportive and non-supportive employment settings. Experience in placing individuals with special needs or multiple barriers such as history of homelessness, mental illness and/or physical disabilities. Commit to at least one year of employment with DCCCMH. Computer literacy to the extent of entering, assessing, and retrieving all supportive housing program and services data. Ability to work cooperatively with team members and consumers as well as community organizations and institutions. Experience with patients exhibiting severe and persistent mental illness preferred. Must meet all Continuing Education requirements.
Some Responsibilities Include:
Assures that the supported employment team understands and provides fidelity based IPS/supported employment services. Maintains necessary quality data required by the State of Michigan, CCH quality department and the county-wide data for the initiative. Engages members and establish trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in integrated job settings. Assesses members' vocational functioning on an ongoing basis utilizing background information and work experiences. Assists consumers in job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are consistent with the needs and interests of members on his/her caseload, following the principles and procedures of IPS/supported employment. Provides individualized, time unlimited follow along services to assist members in sustaining employment.
