Peer Support Specialist Eastside Community Action Center - 3.3 Lansing, MI Job Details Part-time $15 - $20 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications Care documentation High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Empathy Clean workspace maintenance Full Job Description Position Description The Peer Support Specialist provides day‑to‑day support, mentorship, and accountability for participants living in ECAC's transitional recovery home for men. This role is grounded in Christian values and models the principles of faith, integrity, responsibility, and compassion in all interactions. The Peer Support Specialist helps residents strengthen their recovery, develop healthy routines, and build the life skills needed for long‑term stability. Duties Build supportive, trust‑based relationships with participants by sharing lived experience, offering encouragement, and modeling Christian values and recovery‑aligned behaviors. Ensure participants adhere to daily schedules, curfews, appointments, and program expectations. Monitor completion of household chores and maintain accountability for cleanliness, order, and shared responsibilities within the home. Provide day‑to‑day emotional support, guidance, and problem‑solving assistance to residents as they navigate recovery and transition toward independence. Facilitate or assist with faith‑based discussions, devotionals, or spiritual encouragement in alignment with ECAC's Christian mission. Conduct regular check‑ins with participants to assess progress, identify challenges, and reinforce recovery goals. Support participants in developing healthy routines, including time management, personal responsibility, and positive decision‑making. Assist with documentation, reporting, incident logs, attendance tracking, and other required paperwork to ensure accurate program records. Collaborate with Peer Recovery Coaches, case managers, and the Housing team to ensure consistent support and alignment with each participant's recovery plan. Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and staff training to support coordinated care. Educational Requirements A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Lived experience with recovery and the ability to model Christian values is essential. Certification as a Peer Support Specialist or willingness to obtain certification is strongly valued. Experience working in recovery housing, ministry settings, or human services is beneficial Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to build supportive, empathetic relationships with men in recovery while maintaining healthy boundaries. Strong commitment to Christian values and the ability to model faith‑based principles in daily interactions. Understanding of recovery principles, relapse prevention, and the challenges faced by individuals transitioning from treatment or sober living. Ability to maintain structure, uphold program rules, and hold participants accountable with compassion and respect. Basic documentation and reporting skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
