Full-Time About Us Home of New Vision is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by substance use. We provide compassionate, evidence-based services rooted in harm reduction and recovery support. Our Harm Reduction Program is expanding, and we are seeking a passionate, community-driven individual to join our team. Job Summary The Harm Reduction Outreach Specialist will provide direct services to people who use drugs (PWUD) through outreach, education, and resource distribution. This role is based in Ypsilanti, MI, and includes travel to outreach sites across Washtenaw County. The ideal candidate is committed to harm reduction principles, open to multiple pathways to recovery, and comfortable working with diverse populations. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and education on overdose prevention, safer use, and syringe access
  • Distribute harm reduction supplies and provide referrals for services such as Hepatitis C testing
  • Enroll participants in the Syringe Service Program and maintain accurate documentation
  • Provide naloxone training and distribution
  • Support and mentor interns, students, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with community partners, including healthcare providers, social service agencies, and law enforcement
  • Operate and maintain the Harm Reduction Mobile Unit
  • Assist with program development, materials preparation, and supply management
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction philosophy and practices
  • Passion for harm reduction and openness to multiple recovery pathways
  • Must embrace a person-centered approach that promotes autonomy and dignity
  • At least two years of experience in recovery or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Cultural humility and experience working with underserved communities
  • Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations and make sound decisions
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and active auto insurance required
  • Individuals with lived experience with substance use and/or federally approved medications for opioid use disorder are strongly encouraged to apply. Benefits
