Academic and Enrichment Coordinator Full-time position of 40 hours per week
Salary:
$45,000 Typical Hours 10:00-7:00 Monday-Friday with occasional weekends (hours can vary)
Starting Date:
August 3rd, 2026 Reports to : Deputy Director Beyond Walls is a year-round after school program that empowers marginalized youth in grades 6-12 through education enrichment, health and wellness, squash, and social and emotional development. With support continuing for the first four years after high school, Beyond Walls provides long term relationships and meaningful opportunities that foster strong community partnerships and future forward thinking. Beyond Walls leverages academic support, leadership and personal development opportunities engaging community experiences, and the sports of squash, pickleball, and padel to achieve on time high school graduation and post-secondary success. Beyond Walls strategically partners with the University of Minnesota and the Squash and Education Alliance (S.E.A.) Year-round programming is run out of the University Recreation & Wellness Center. Position Overview The Academic & Enrichment Coordinator is an entry-level role responsible for delivering high-quality afterschool programming. This role focuses on direct student engagement, academic support, and program planning and execution. The Coordinator works closely with leadership to ensure students receive consistent academic guidance, remain engaged in programming, and develop the skills necessary for success in school and beyond. Core Responsibilities Academic Program Delivery Facilitate daily 60-90 minute academic sessions (Monday-Friday) including homework help, academic enrichment, skill building, career exploration, and college prep. Maintain a structured, productive classroom environment aligned with program expectations and values. Lead development and implementation of lesson plans, enrichment activities, and social-emotional learning strategies. Student Support & Relationship Building Build positive, consistent relationships with each student. Provide individualized academic support and encouragement based on student needs. Support students in maintaining 80%+ average program attendance Support communication with families regarding student progress, behavior, and program updates. Enrichment & Program Support Assist in planning and executing 2 enrichment or community-building activities per month (e.g., workshops, college exposure, team-building events). Support logistics for field trips, guest speakers, and special events. Support, orientation, coordination and supervision of volunteers during academic sessions. Data & Program Accountability Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records including attendance, grades (if applicable), and engagement notes. Assist with program evaluation efforts including surveys and reporting. Use data to inform daily support and identify students needing additional intervention. Recruitment & Retention Support Support student recruitment efforts through school visits, events, and outreach. Help maintain strong relationships with partner schools and community organizations. Additional Expectations Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development Support occasional weekend field trips, college visits, or events Demonstrate attributes of a Beyond Walls community member Perform other duties as assigned to support program success Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or relevant experience in education, youth development, or related field) Experience working with middle or high school students preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to manage a classroom and build positive relationships with youth Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities Commitment to educational equity and working in diverse communities

Must maintain a valid MN Driver's License and safe driving record Self-starts and effectively problem solves Handles confidential information appropriately Sets appropriate limits on personal and professional boundaries Criminal background check required if hired Computer competency required
