Supported employment Supported Employment Specialist - A Supported Employment Specialist helps individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment obtain and maintain meaningful, competitive jobs in the community. This role blends career counseling, job development, employer engagement, and ongoing support to ensure long‑term success for each participant. Key Responsibilities Participant Support Conduct strengths‑based assessments to identify skills, interests, and employment goals. Assist participants in developing individualized employment plans. Provide coaching on job readiness skills such as interviewing, communication, and workplace expectations. Offer on‑the‑job support, including job coaching, task analysis, and accommodations as needed. Monitor progress and adjust support strategies to promote independence. Employer Engagement Build and maintain relationships with local employers. Identify job opportunities that match participant skills and preferences. Advocate for inclusive hiring practices and reasonable accommodations. Provide employers with training and consultation on disability awareness and workplace supports. Job Development & Placement Assist participants with job searches, applications, and resume development. Arrange job interviews and accompany participants when appropriate. Match participants to suitable job openings based on strengths and goals. Support onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition into employment.
