DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the implementation, development, and continuous improvement of Career Academies aligned to NAF standards, district priorities, and workforce development initiatives. Coordinates academy operations, strategic planning, and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with school administrators, counselors, teachers, district staff, business and industry partners, workforce agencies, and post-secondary institutions. Facilitates and supports academies in achieving distinguished-level outcomes to include the development and expansion of high-quality work-based learning opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, mentoring, job shadowing, and other career-connected learning experiences. Serves as a liaison for academy-related workforce partnerships, including collaboration with WIOA in-school youth programming and workforce development initiatives. Coordinates the development and implementation of youth apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, and internship opportunities in collaboration with business and industry partners, workforce agencies, and postsecondary institutions. Develops and sustains active advisory boards and strategic partnerships with business, industry, labor, workforce development organizations, community colleges, universities, and community stakeholders to expand student career pathway opportunities and workforce readiness experiences. Supports student development in Career Development Plans (CDPs), durability skills, professionalism, workplace readiness, leadership, and post-secondary transition. Supports teachers and academy staff through supporting professional learning, curriculum support, instructional resources, industry engagement, and implementation of academy and workforce initiatives. Collects, maintains, reports, and analyzes program data related to academy implementation, student participation, work-based learning experiences, credential attainment, partnerships, and post-secondary outcomes to support accountability and continuous improvement. Assists with grant implementation, reporting requirements, funding opportunities, and compliance related to academy initiatives, workforce partnerships, and career-connected learning programs. Maintains ongoing communication with school leadership, district administration, families, business partners, workforce agencies, and community stakeholders regarding academy initiatives, student opportunities, and program outcomes. Plans and coordinates academy events, graduations, fundraisers, student recognition activities, partnership meetings, and other academy-related functions. Participates in professional learning, workforce development initiatives, conferences, and regional, state, or national partnerships to remain current on industry trends, career-connected learning practices, NAF standards, and academy best practices. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organization core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of sitting, light lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
