Job Description
Under limited supervision, the Welding Instructor provides welding and blueprint reading instruction primarily at assigned partner high schools within the College's service area. This position serves as the on-site representative of the Welding Technology program in the high school environment, delivering quality instruction while maintaining strong working relationships with Career Development Coordinators, school counselors, and high school administration. The position supports PCC's dual enrollment and workforce pipeline initiatives. Click here to learn more about our Welding Program Delivers welding and blueprint reading instruction at assigned high school sites in accordance with curriculum standards, course syllabi, and applicable industry certifications (e.g., AWS). Maintains a safe and orderly shop environment at all instructional locations; enforces safety protocols and ensures compliance with OSHA standards. Prepares lesson plans, assessments, and course materials; evaluates and grades student work; and submits required academic reports including 20% reports, grade rolls, and end-of-semester documentation. Serves as the primary point of contact at assigned high schools; builds and maintains productive working relationships with Career Development Coordinators, school counselors, and building administrators. Communicates regularly with high school partners regarding student enrollment, attendance, academic progress, and program expectations; participates in school-based events, career days, and transition planning. Advises students on academic progress, program requirements, and pathways to continued enrollment or workforce entry; assists with registration, financial aid referrals, and support service connections. Maintains required records and submits departmental reports, book orders, supply requisitions, and professional development documentation. Remains current with developments in welding technology and instructional best practices through professional organizations, industry engagement, and continuing education. Serves on college committees and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Welding Technology or Applied Science; or equivalent combination of education and experience providing the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Three to five years of welding industry experience and/or welding instruction. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high school or secondary education setting and communicate professionally with K-12 administrators, counselors, and school staff. Preferred Qualifications Current AWS Certified Welder (CW) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential. Experience with dual enrollment, early college, or secondary/post-secondary partnership programs. Teaching experience in a community college or vocational/technical education setting.Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in a classroom or laboratory setting equipped with standard instructional technology. The position involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff and includes the use of online instructional platforms. Occasional travel may be required for professional development, off-campus instruction, or college events.Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: Frequently sits for extended periods while performing administrative and instructional duties. Regularly stands, walks, and moves between offices, classrooms, and campus locations. Uses hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals and groups. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items such as instructional materials, office supplies, or equipment (generally up to 100 pounds) and excerpt force up to 50 pounds frequently May need to reach, bend, stoop, or kneel to access files, equipment, or classroom materials. Visual ability to read documents, review data, and operate computer systems. Ability to travel between campus locations or external sites as needed.Normal Working Hours:
Full-Time, 10-Month, faculty position. Teaching responsibilities may include daytime, evening, hybrid, and online classes as assigned to meet departmental needs.
