Job Description

Description Summary Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to instruct in the Welding Technology curriculum. Employees in this classification perform instructional work. Position is responsible for teaching classes and instructing students; preparing lesson plans; preparing tests; evaluating work; and counseling and advising students. Perform related work as required. Knowledge & Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Teaches classes:
instruct students on the use of shop equipment. Supervises work experience activities; evaluates students' work. Maintains shop equipment; machine repairs and general maintenance. Prepares attendance reports and administers attendance policy; Administrators and responds to annual evaluation report. Averages grades and prepares student grade reports. Counsels and advises students. Recruits new students for programs. Recruits and supervises part-time instructors. Determines need for and requisitions supplies; ensures proper storage and security of supplies; obtains quotes as needed. Attends school-wide meetings; staff development conferences and workshops; attends faculty meetings. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has supervisory responsibilities of adjunct faculty. Education Minimum:
Associate Degree in Welding Technology. Obtain CWI/CWE certification within 18 months of employment
Education Preferred:
None Experience Minimum :
Three to five years in the welding field. Teaching experience in a Community College a plus.
Preferred:
Five to Ten years in the welding field, along with AWS certifications; CWE and CWI credentials a plus. Teaching experience in a Community College Additional Information Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Applicant must have a working knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Any certifications or license a plus. Computer Skills Applicant must have basic computer and keyboarding skills. Microsoft office knowledge a plus as this job will require the use of this software.
