Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The Coordinator of College and Career Readiness , will be responsible for designing, implementing, and facilitating educational programs aimed at enhancing the Adult Basic Education and digital skills of adults. This role also plays a crucial part in working with all CCR instructors to arrange, coordinate and maintain required professional development for the CCR department. This individual will provide daily instruction to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead successful, independent lives. Location Washington, NC Full-Time/Part-Time Full Time Type of Position Professional Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Experience teaching adult learners in a post-secondary educational environment. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in adult education or related field. Experience with teaching adult learners, supervision and digital literacy experience. Essential Duties Under the direction of the Director of College and Career Readiness, the coordinator works cooperatively with BCCC staff/faculty to perform the following duties: Administrative Duties Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and program documentation; ensure all data is entered, tracked, and reported in Advansys in compliance with CCR and state requirements. Develop and monitor program reports and statistical data to evaluate class performance, student progress, and overall program effectiveness. Coordinate class scheduling, registration, and organization within Advansys. Administer, proctor, and coordinate required assessments (e.g., TABE, CASAS, Official Practice GED) in accordance with state and program guidelines. Monitor student progress and persistence; maintain regular communication with students to support attendance, measurable skill gains, and retention. Provide academic and career advising using CCR program procedures; support student transitions to post secondary education, workforce training, or employment. Refer students to appropriate internal and external support services (e.g., WIOA, HRD, community agencies) to remove barriers to success. Maintain ongoing communication with the Director, CCR, regarding program operations, needs, and performance. Ensure compliance with all record keeping, reporting, and audit requirements. Oversee instructional resources and technology, including software licensing, seat allocation, usage tracking, and requisitions; recommend improvements as needed. Organize instructional materials and coordinate with vendors to maintain program resources. Support hiring, on boarding, observation, and training of instructors; provide ongoing professional development and guidance to current staff. Coordinate special program activities, including guest speakers and student engagement events. Participate in college committees, institutional initiatives, and community or state agency partnerships that support CCR programs. Instructional Duties Plans, develops, and delivers CCR instruction aligned with curriculum standards to meet the needs of diverse, multi-level adult learners. Instructor will teach ABE/Digital Literacy daily. Being present in the classroom and ready to begin at the class start time. Provides advance notice of absence to the director and ensure adequate class coverage. Completes registration paperwork, completes appropriate LEIS forms, and submits to the director as directed in the CCR Instructor Manual. Prepares daily lesson plans in advance based on NC Adult Basic Education Content Standards for individual and group instruction. Uses various teaching techniques and mediums, utilizing contextualized instruction and other methods presented at NC Community Colleges System (NCCCS) office Core Credential or Specialty training. Administers standardized post-tests according to current CCR guidelines and submits to the director as directed in the CCR Instructor Manual. Provides high-quality instruction, assesses student learning, and adjusts teaching strategies to improve outcomes. Evaluates student work, provide feedback, and assigns appropriate learning tasks to support progress. Fosters a structured, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports student persistence and achievement. Supports instructors in lesson planning and instructional delivery to ensure consistency and quality across CCR classes. Performs additional instructional responsibilities as needed to support program goals. Manages the classroom following the CCR Classroom Agreement and Student Incident Report Procedures, consistently enforcing them with all students and personal attendants, if applicable. Maintains confidentiality of student records by utilizing lockable storage units. Adheres to the Release of Information signed by the student on the back of the LEIS form to ensure confidentiality and compliance with FERPA. Maintains attendance roster using web attendance daily; grades and submits roster electronically at the end of the contract period. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of student hours reported following auditing requirements. Attends required training. Attends NCCCS Core Credential and/or Specialty training. Completes Instructor Time Reports daily and accurately, records daily, scans weekly, and signs and dates on the last class day of every month. Maintains appropriate communication with College and Career Readiness staff. Reviews and responds to emails and other communications from the director and other BCCC staff within 48 business hours of receipt. All other duties as assigned by supervisor. FLSA Exempt Estimated Hours per Week 39 hours per week Salary $48,000 - $57,000 Based on the College's salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience.
