(To ensure consideration, please submit all application materials before review date) 05/06/2026 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Description of Work The Peter Kiewit Foundation Engineering Academy (PKFEA) scholar program is a unique cohort-based program for undergraduate engineering students in financial need, with a commitment to advancing leadership in the field of engineering. The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with the Director of PKFEA to further develop the scholar program's mission and goals and be involved in aspects of the program, including, but not limited to, teaching, coaching, workshop and event planning, and curriculum development. The position will assist in directing programs and services designed to enhance career development skills. The position will provide strategic outreach to students who need academic and career-related interventions. The Assistant Director will help develop strategic efforts to integrate career-readiness and experiential learning across PKFEA programming. As the Assistant Director, you will: Teach ENGR 102/103 and ENGR 20 courses as part of the Peter Kiewit Foundation Engineering Academy curriculum on the Omaha campus. Develop and execute monthly professional development workshops for students, tailored to each cohort's needs in their academic progress, including networking receptions, career panels, mock interviews, and site visits. Provide students with success coaching at the Omaha campus. Maintain student internship data, co-op, and employment outcomes to inform reports and continuous improvement efforts. Manage current scholar communication and expectations for events and engagement. Develop service-learning opportunities for students Manage student financial scholarship awarding. Use assessment data to identify gaps, measure progress toward program goals, and recommend enhancements to career-related initiatives. This position is based on the Scott Campus in Omaha, NE and travels regularly to UNL campus in Lincoln. //go.unl.edu/nondiscrimination Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, education, social sciences, student affairs, or related field plus three (3) years of experience in student development, career services, or employer relations. Demonstrated experience working with students in a 1:1 setting and presenting to diverse groups. Experience facilitating workshops or teaching professional development topics. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain multifaceted partnerships. Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must be able to travel between Omaha and Lincoln campuses. Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are preferred but not required: Master's degree in engineering, business, education, social sciences, student affairs, or related field. Experience working in engineering, STEM, or technical education environments. Experience with management systems, data tracking, and assessment tools (e.g., Handshake, SSH, Tableau, Excel). Experience supporting students through complex personal or academic challenges. Experience teaching at the University level helpful. Knowledge of scholarship-based or cohort programs supporting underrepresented student populations. Knowledge of theory/application of coaching others helpful.
