General Definition of Work:
The hospitality teacher and CTE Portfolio Coach works under the direction of the CTE Director and Culinary Arts teacher to deliver high quality educational experiences in the field of hospitality management and assist teachers center-wide to develop and implement evidence of student learning portfolios. In hospitality management, the teacher instructs professional technical education classes in hospitality/tourism and supervises student activities related to the above so that students develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes related to employment in related industries. Additionally, the teacher provides back of the house support for the culinary arts program. As a portfolio coach, the teacher will work closely with all CTE teachers to develop an online portfolio and assist teachers and students with updated evidence of student learning on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
Current NH certification in Hospitality Management, or the ability to obtain a Statement of Eligibility 2-5 years of job-related experience. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Experience with medium-level catering; hospitality management; event planning, or directly related careers. Associates degree from accredited college or technical school. Prior restaurant experience. Proficiency in Google Suites and related programs. Flexibility with scheduling/coverage during special events. ServSafe Manager certification (may be obtained in the first year of employment).
Responsibilities:
Hospitality Teacher Teaches occupational knowledge and skills in areas of food handling, food service and hotel management, tourism, human relations and communication, and career preparation. Work with local grand resorts to coordinate the placement, supervision, and evaluation of students in work-based learning environments. Ensures that instructional activities and materials are clearly related to District, school, program, and course goals and objectives. Assesses, keeps track of, and provides feedback promptly and often to students on their progress and assignments. Ensure that all enterprise services operations are customer-service focused and consistent with the mission and needs of the Culinary Arts/Catering Program. Work with clients to provide catering services on and off campus. Promote and solicit the Career & Technical Education (CTE) and catering services to the community, constituents, student, and school-building events. Collaborate with the culinary arts teacher with the preparation of instructional materials for the purpose of enhancing learning activities and ensuring continuity between the two programs. Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Process deposits; handle all cash and reconciliation activities. Recruit, manage, develop, coach and mentor students within a work-based learning environment related to Hospitality Management. Operate district-owned vehicles, as requested; maintain a New Hampshire or Vermont motor vehicle operator's license and have the ability to obtain School Bus certification in New Hampshire. Comply with all District and school-wide policies. This position reports jointly to the CTE Director and the Principal. CTE Portfolio Coach Coach and counsel teachers to develop a portfolio template that showcases evidence of student learning as it pertains to each program's given competencies that are aligned to NHDOE. Facilitate discussions with students and staff about what evidence can be used to show student learning. Develop a series of instructional documents/videos to assist teachers in using the Google platform to create the portfolio template, as well as support material for students to upload items in their portfolios. Schedule regular appointments with CTE teachers and students to assist in the upload of evidence into student portfolios.
