Within the Department, the Business Operations Division under Economic Development supports employer engagement and workforce initiatives that connect businesses with qualified job seekers. The New Mexico Works program, including Wage Subsidy and Career Link initiatives, operates to assist low-income families in achieving long-term self-sufficiency through employment and training services. Due to Budget the pay rate for position will be $23.90 Interviews will be conducted within 2 weeks of closing Why does the job exist? The Subsidized Career Consultant exists to develop and manage strategic employer partnerships that create meaningful employment opportunities for participants in the New Mexico Works programs. This position ensures alignment between business workforce needs and program objectives, facilitating successful subsidized transition of participants to unsubsidized employment. The role is essential to expanding employer engagement, strengthening program outcomes, and supporting economic mobility for low-income families across the state. How does it get done? The key responsibilities include business development and employer engagement, applying in-depth knowledge of Wage Subsidy and Career Link program requirements, coordinating participant placements, and ensuring compliance with program standards. The position cultivates long-term partnerships with businesses, monitors placement success, collaborates with internal staff and case managers, resolves site or participant concerns, and maintains accurate reporting and documentation to support program performance and continuous improvement. Who are the customers? TANF Clients Ideal Candidate TANF Clients Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years experience in customer service, administrative support, human resources, recruitment, placement, selection, compensation, benefits administration, labor relations, occupational analysis, processing personnel transactions, or eligibility determination in a public and/or social welfare program. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Work is primarily performed in an office setting with regular interaction among staff, leadership, and external stakeholders, and requires extensive use of visual display terminals and standard office equipment including a personal computer, tablet, printer, calculator, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard, and telephone. The position involves prolonged sitting while viewing a computer monitor, repetitive hand movements, and occasional standing, walking, and lifting of items up to 20 pounds. Additional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on operational or leadership needs. Successful Completion of Background Check. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in an office setting with regular interaction among staff, leadership, and external stakeholders, and requires extensive use of visual display terminals and standard office equipment including a personal computer, tablet, printer, calculator, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard, and telephone. The position involves prolonged sitting while viewing a computer monitor, repetitive hand movements, and occasional standing, walking, and lifting of items up to 20 pounds. Additional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on operational or leadership needs.
