Vocational Rehab Tech (DVR #10312) State of New Mexico - 3.4 Las Cruces, NM Job Details Full-time $21.96 - $32.94 an hour 7 days ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Posting Details The New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (NMDVR) is a state-run agency dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving employment success. Through services such as vocational counseling, job placement assistance, training and education, assistive technology, and support services, NMDVR aims to enhance the employability and independence of people with various disabilities. Tailoring its programs to meet individual needs, the agency is committed to facilitating competitive employment and fostering independence among its clientele. This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once Why does the job exist? Assist participants with disabilities, who are eligible for vocational rehabilitation services and support the counselor in serving participants toward an employment outcome. How does it get done? Issue authorizations ensuring accurate coding of services. Verify that services or goods have been rendered. Ensure the timely processing of payments. Cancel authorizations as appropriate. Provide orientation to include education regarding DVR services, process and procedures to potential participants.
Activities may include:
conduct screening, orientation, initial intakes. Provide employment readiness and job placement services.Activities may include:
conduct JSST /Job Club, administer career assessment tools, provide direct job development, support OJT activities and provide participant follow-along as necessary. Collaborate between participants and VR staff.Activities may include:
function as a liaison between participants and DVR staff as necessary, coordinate VR services to include interpreter services, provide timely follow up to VRC requests for support and provide relevant information to participants and VR staff. Develop IPE amendments under the direction of the VRC or Program Manager. Provide technical assistance toward timely and comprehensive eligibility determination.Tasks include:
arranging for diagnostics, gathering necessary information and contacting participants as necessary. Ensure proper maintenance of case files.Activities may include:
documentation of case activity, provide timely response to VRC requests for caseload support, effectively use Case Management System reports to track and manage required case activities. Provide education and outreach to assigned school districts and pueblos.Activities may include:
conduct orientations, participate in IEP meetings as assigned. Collaborate with community agency providers and employers.Activities may include:
conduct orientations, identify job leads and represent DVR at meetings and/or other community groups. Who are the customers? People with disabilities, NMDVR partner agencies and the general public. Ideal Candidate People with disabilities, NMDVR partner agencies and the general public. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Successful completion of a background check (including fingerprints). Occasional Travel is Required. Lift/carry up to 30 lbs; prolonged computer work. Working Conditions Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
