Clean Energy Career Connect is a part of Henry Street Settlement's Education and Employment Services, a $15M envision providing a continuum of services from early childhood education through adult workforce programs designed to assist individuals in obtaining the skills necessary for lifetime self-sufficiency. The overall goal of the Clean Energy Career Connect is to provide comprehensive sector knowledge and work readiness training tied to in-demand roles in clean energy. The program is part of Henry Street Settlement's sector strategy portfolio, connecting community members to career pathways that include technical and/or occupational training. This work takes form via collaboration with training and education partners. Specifically, this program entails a formal partnership with The Green Launchpad and New Women New Yorkers.Job Summary:
The Employment Coordinator in Henry Street Settlement's Employment Services provides best-in-class career development, job placement, and job retention support to a diverse population of job seekers through workshop facilitation, resume and interview preparation, job coaching, career planning, advancement support, skills development, training, and industry-recognized certifications. Their mission is to develop strong relationships with job seekers to provide a safe space to remove barriers to employment while also preparing and coordinating employment-based services that keep members engaged in an employment outcome for one year or longer.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field and experience working with City systems such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing An associate's degree and experience working with City systems such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing At least three (3) years of successful experience in providing case management/counseling and working with City systems such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing. Experience in recruiting, human resources, workforce development, professional development a plus Knowledge of employment laws and job market trends, especially in clean energy. Familiarity with resume building, interview coaching, and career counseling. Passion for and ability to serve diverse groups including those who are under and unemployed, young adults, justice-involved, LGBTQIA, and specifically NYCHA residents Demonstrated experience providing comprehensive assessment and case management services Demonstrated experience effectively teaching or facilitating groups and individuals to achieve a desired outcome using culturally relevant techniques/methods Self-motivated, able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure both as an individual and member of a team Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills required, ability to effectively conduct meetings, training, and groups preferred Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required, various data collection software required, database maintenance required, web/cloud-based programs required, targeted internet research required, social media (including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, CareerBuilder, Monster.com, etc.) preferred, web-based mailing services preferred, experience using Outcomes/Resume Video database a plus.Responsibilities:
Provide retention support for ongoing participant internships, apprenticeships, job placements, and career advancement opportunities. Conduct interviews in consistent intervals to assess clients' evolving employment needs, skills, and barriers. Support established individual employment plans to ensure clients reach their goals successfully. Provide career counseling, coaching, and support for placed participants to foster their success and mitigate barriers. Assist clients in identifying and applying for suitable career advancement, additional certifications, and growth opportunities in the building automation or clean energy sector. Collaborate with job developers to match clients with appropriate openings and to ensure successful retention outcomes. Market job opportunities, internships and/or apprenticeships to jobseekers and their employment coordinators through one-on-one meetings, on-site recruitment events, and social media outlets. Help prepare candidates for interviews; one-on-one or in group/workshop settings, screen candidates for job interviews and make appropriate referrals to employers Monitor client progress, provide ongoing support, and adjust employment plans as needed. Facilitate workshops and group sessions on continuous improvement and upskilling topics. Help clients access community resources such as transportation, childcare, or housing to remove barriers to employment. Maintain detailed case notes, documentation, and reports on client progress and employment outcomes. Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses, workforce development agencies, and social service organizations. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and funder requirements. Provide crisis intervention and address immediate needs, when necessary, in concert with the social worker Other duties as assigned by supervisorEssential Physical Job Functions:
Sitting for long periods Ability to stand for extended periods while delivering 2-3-hour instructional workshops. Ability to travel to various HSS locations, client worksites, and employer partner sites.
