This position is located onsite at our Cleveland, Ohio office.Job Overview:
Responsible for providing instruction to students in accordance with approved career preparation curricula in compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) and management guidelines.Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties:
Provides students with basic direction, instruction, and assistance in the career preparation period per DOL program requirements. Develops and prepares lessons; recommends curricula changes and supplemental materials. Motivates and counsels' students in areas of behavior, training, personal issues and study habits; coordinates with career development services and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training and adjustment to center life. Provides aptitude and interest assessments for students, to assist them in choosing an appropriate career pathway. Participates on evaluation panels; prepares required documentation and evaluations. Administers and corrects tests; maintains progress and attendance reports. Controls use of equipment and supplies; recommends purchases. Develops curricula for enrichment programs, as assigned, and instructs classroom lessons and projects. Maintains records, cleanliness, and classroom discipline. Conducts student activities associated with the intellectual and social development of students and their adjustment to center life. Assists in developing community linkages and volunteers to enhance the Career Preparation Program (CPP) classes. Supports and promotes center zero tolerance policies. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices. Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn. Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned.Key Responsibilities:
Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives. Timely and cost-effective performance of duties. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to students, management and line staff, corporate and DOL personnel and public groups. Strong analytical skills to interpret and manage data. Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work. Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required. Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.Job Requirements:
Mandatory:
Associate's Degree Two (2) years of relevant experience with youth. An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties and functions of the job may be substituted for Associates' Degree. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level. Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract. Current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.Preferred:
Previous experience with Job Corps program. State of Alaska teaching certificate.Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center. Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment. Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property. Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously.Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.Disclosures:
