Archbishop Ryan High School 11201 Academy Road Philadelphia, PA 19154 About Archbishop Ryan High School Archbishop Ryan High School is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school dedicated to empowering a diverse student body to become active contributors to both the Church and society. In partnership with families and the broader community, Archbishop Ryan strives to teach as Jesus taught by fostering spiritual, academic, social, and service-oriented growth. Through a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum rooted in excellence, the school prepares students to become thoughtful leaders and lifelong learners. Position Summary Archbishop Ryan High School seeks a dedicated and student-centered College/Career Resource Specialist to guide students and families through the college and career planning process. This 12-month position reports directly to the Director of Guidance and plays a vital role in supporting students' post-secondary success through individualized counseling, program development, and collaboration with school and community stakeholders. Qualifications Master's Degree in School Counseling, Education, Higher Education Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience in secondary school counseling, college admissions, higher education, or a related student support role. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking abilities. Proficiency with Google Workspace, PowerSchool, Common Application, Naviance, and related educational technology platforms. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and maintain accurate student data and records. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development. Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced educational environment. Essential Responsibilities Student and Family Support Build and maintain positive relationships with students and their families. Advise and counsel students and parents throughout the college and career planning process. Conduct individual student meetings, small-group sessions, and classroom presentations regarding post-secondary planning. Guide students through all aspects of the college admissions process, including application completion, essay review, recommendation letter preparation, and admissions decision support. Educate students and families regarding financial aid opportunities, scholarships, and the FAFSA process. Program Development and Collaboration Collaborate with the Director of Guidance to develop and deliver a comprehensive college and career counseling curriculum. Plan and facilitate workshops, seminars, evening parent programs, and career exploration initiatives throughout the academic year. Coordinate and support college fairs, campus visits, career readiness programs, and networking opportunities. Establish and maintain partnerships with colleges, universities, employers, and community organizations. Work closely with faculty, administrators, and counselors to promote student success and college/career readiness. Professional Practice Stay informed about college admissions trends, higher education developments, labor market opportunities, and counseling best practices. Ensure compliance with professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards in all student and family interactions. Collect, analyze, and report data related to college admissions outcomes, student demographics, and program effectiveness to support continuous improvement. Participate in school-wide programs, events, and professional development activities. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Guidance or School Administration.
