82) 7 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year Employee Benefits Summary Role Overview This position supports middle and high school students with career exploration and individualized career counseling services to identify potential careers and post-College and Career Readiness (CCR) pathways to prepare for their chosen careers. The position also supports high school students by connecting them to employment and apprenticeship programs.
Note:
This position is for the 2026
  • 2027 school year, not starting until August.
Grant funded through June 2027, possibilities for permanent employment exist, but are not guaranteed. Minimum Requirements Associate's degree. Ability to accurately compile, analyze, and present statistical reports and data. Ability to effectively organize work, establish priorities, manage time effectively, and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision. Ability to use creativity and originality in assisting in designing programs and curriculum, creating partnerships, and developing services. Ability to earn the Global Career Development Facilitator certification within the first year of employment. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships through exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to advise and mentor students and collaborate with all stakeholders. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be flexible and demonstrate quality customer service. Regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position. Ability to perform the job's essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or relevant job experience. Proficiency in a language other than English, preferably Spanish. Knowledge of career development, local training schools, community services/employment opportunities, and apprenticeship models. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources. Experience in youth development. Role Responsibilities Work with individual and small groups of students with career exploration through Naviance and individualized career counseling services to identify potential careers and post-College and Career Readiness (CCR) pathways to prepare for their chosen careers. Support high school students by connecting them to employment and apprenticeship opportunities in collaboration with the Apprenticeship Coordinator and Western Maryland Consortium staff. Assist with career development activities/programs, including college, technical school, business tours, job-embedded field trips, career/college fairs, and speakers. Advise students on apprenticeship and career pathways that lead to industry-recognized credentials, education, occupational training, and work experience. ? Collaborate with school counselors and student intervention specialists to support the student's post-secondary education?and career interests. Assist with apprenticeship monitoring and site visits, which may include travel. Travel will be reimbursed per WCPS policy. Assist with promoting and tracking student service learning opportunities and expectations. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools. Other duties as assigned. Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental Requirements The Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental demands represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to sufficiently and efficiently move throughout the building for extended periods. Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with others as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, and hear. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20 lbs. on an irregular basis. Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb. Will be subjected to loud noises, interactions, and traffic flow associated within a highly populated office environment.
