Refugee Success Program Manager Job Location:
Fresno, CA Purpose:
Support refugees to attain and maintain high quality employment. Identify and coordinate job placements, assist with resume development, practice interviews, and/or provide transportation until first paycheck and coach refugees with multiple years of work experience in the US to apply for higher paying jobs in order to support the successful resettlement of refugees in Fresno. All participants must be verified as
ORR-eligible Job Responsibilities and Duties :
Provide direct support to work-eligible refugees in order to support quality employment and quality wages Support participants to identify short-term and long-term employment goals Identify potential leads for jobs that fit short-term and long-term goals Provide cultural orientation regarding US-based workplace cultures and expectations Support participants to get recertified and/or overseas credentials recognized Support participants to customize resumes to available positions Support participants to apply for, interview for, and attend orientation for new jobs. As needed, support participants with transportation until first paycheck arrives Conduct check-ins after hire with decreasing frequency (ie: end of first week, after first paycheck, after first month, then monthly for 6 months) Facilitate regular small peer support groups for refugees seeking employment Work closely with Program Manager to cultivate employment resources for eligible refugees: job leads, hiring managers, volunteers, advice, professional/business attire for interviews, tutoring, coaching, etc. Ensure documentation of all donated supplies/materials according to FIRM standards Ensure documentation of donated time of volunteers according to FIRM standards Conduct outreach and enrollment activities to recruit new eligible participants Ensure that intake and enrollment is complete, including eligibility documentation and all internal and external referrals are listed Refer participants to FIRM staff in other departments for all non-employment assistance. Provide direct support and external referrals for employment-related assistance Provide interpretation, community integration support, and cultural orientation as needed Build trust and facilitate respectful and culturally sensitive conversations that encourage understanding of how employment can support family stability and financial well-being Connect interested community members to opportunities to learn more about newcomers, receive training and then join in the welcoming efforts. Promote positive representation of the program and organization to community partners, including government, philanthropy, private sector and CBOs. Communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders from public, private, nonprofit and faith-based partners Document all work appropriately and on a timely basis, including case notes, eligibility documentation, and participant engagement in other FIRM activities. Keep internal databases and tracking spreadsheets updated Participate in trainings as required and offered Protect confidentiality of all client information Attend and actively engage in all meetings about project, program, and organization Provide support for coordinated organizational events Work collaboratively with coworkers to achieve joint objectives, including FIRM Admin, Program Managers, and other staff outside of the Program Area Actively participate in and learn from FIRM staff meetings and staff development days Proactively communicate with supervisor and/or FIRM leadership when issues, questions or concerns arise Contribute towards strong cross-cultural collaboration at all levels of the organization All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written to a variety of diverse audiences Fluency in English and at least one language spoken by ORR-eligible refugees in Fresno (priority languages include: Arabic, Spanish, and/or Ukrainian) Resourceful and respectful problem solver Excellent critical thinking skills to help solve problems and make decisions Excellent persuasive skills to support newcomers and employers to understand one another Awareness of external and internal resources available to support newcomers to overcome barriers Awareness of barriers faced by newcomers to find quality employment Awareness of entry-level work opportunities within the greater Fresno area Ability to multi-task and to work under pressure Ability to work from home and office as needed Ability to log activity and complete reports in a timely manner Willingness to learn new skills and share information with others Proficiency in GoogleSuite, RingCentral, webforms and regular use of e-mail Ability to transport clients in own vehicle or FIRM vehicle Reliable transportation, full insurance coverage and valid driver's license Ability to work flexible hours depending on participant needs
Preferred:
Strong familiarity with external resources available for employment assistance Comfort addressing and overcoming norms regarding 2 income households Experience working in a federal grant-funded program
Compensation and Benefits:
$18•22/hr depending on relevant experience 12 paid holidays, 2 weeks paid vacation, 6 sick days per year Cell phone reimbursement stipend of $40.00/month Mileage reimbursed at the federal reimbursement rate (currently $0.725 per mile) Employee medical benefits and life/dental/vision insurance fully covered
