We are hiring a CAYA Coach to support graduates of the READY programs as they move forward in employment, education, and independent living. As a CAYA Coach, you will serve as a consistent, encouraging presence—providing accountability and practical guidance during the six months following a graduate's program completion. You will work closely with CAYA's Trainers and Executive Director to document progress, communicate any concerns, and contribute to an evolving model of post-program support. CAYA Coaches are not employers, therapists, or case managers. They are steady, caring community members who believe in what each person is working toward—and show up consistently to help them keep going.
Schedule & Work Environment Part-time:
5-10 hours/week; flexible working hours depending on meeting arrangements with students, which may involve some evenings or weekendsLocation:
Work at home in Hampton Roads; in-person meetings with participants may occur. Key Responsibilities Accountability & Check-Ins Hold at least one 45-minute virtual check-in per month with your assigned READY graduate Help graduates identify 3-5 meaningful goals for the six-month engagement and check in on progress regularly Provide encouragement, accountability, and practical guidance on employment, education, and independent living Offer perspective and suggestions on navigating workplace situations, interviews, self-advocacy, conflict at work, and day-to-day challenges Ad-hoc support may be needed outside of the 6-month engagement period or in general for community members Communication & Documentation Use your CAYA-assigned email address and Google Voice number for all program communication Document meeting dates, duration, notes, and goal progress in CAYA's tracking system (JotForm) Complete pre- and post-engagement surveys to support program evaluation and outcomes tracking Respond to communications within two business days Communicate any safety concerns or situations requiring escalation to CAYA's Executive Director and/or Program Coordinator promptly Professional Boundaries & Scope Serve as an encourager and accountability partner—not as an employer, financial advisor, or therapist Maintain confidentiality; personal information shared in coaching conversations remains private except where safety requires escalation Attend a CAYA orientation and training session before being matched with a graduate Attend a minimum of two READY program sessions prior to your first match to understand the curriculum and participant experience Adhere to CAYA's scope of support guidelines and professional conduct standards throughout the engagement Required Qualifications (Must Have) Genuine commitment to CAYA's mission of empowering neurodivergent adults toward independence and belonging Strong interpersonal and communication skills—warm, patient, clear, and encouraging Reliability and follow-through; the person on the other end of this relationship is counting on you Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and scope of support Organized and consistent; able to document meetings and track goals accurately Comfortable with virtual communication tools (Google Meet, email, Google Voice) Clear background check Personal or professional experience that reflects an understanding of or commitment to neurodivergent individuals and communities Familiarity with documenting outcomes or participating in program evaluation Preferred Qualifications Connections within the disability community, advocacy spaces, or related service networks Familiarity with vocational rehabilitation, employment support services, or workforce development Experience in HR, professional coaching, mentoring, or social services Compensation & Benefits Contract rate: $15-$20/hour About CAYA Come As You Are (CAYA) is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to helping neurodivergent adults build confidence, develop practical life and workforce skills, and find meaningful pathways to employment, independence, and community belonging.
