Job Description

Location:
Remote within the Northwest Region of New Mexico, with regular in-person work at partner sites in the counties of
Cibola, McKinley, San Juan, Sandoval, Los Alamos, and Rio Arriba Schedule:
Full-time, exempt; evenings and weekends as needed

July 6, 2026
Compensation:
$52,000-$60,000 annually (DOE)

PTO, health insurance reimbursement, retirement Position Overview The Out-of-School (OOS) Youth Specialist reconnects young people (ages 16-24) to education and employment. Using the JAG model, this role combines coaching, case management, and project-based instruction to help participants earn a high school diploma or HSE/GED and achieve sustainable outcomes. This position requires a highly adaptable, relationship-driven professional who can work independently while maintaining strong connections with participants, partners, and employers across the region. Key Responsibilities Deliver the JAG competency-based curriculum using project-based and experiential learning Develop and manage Individualized Development Plans (IDPs) for each participant Recruit and enroll eligible out-of-school youth through outreach and partnerships Provide one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and connections to education, employment, and support services Facilitate career exploration, service-learning, job shadows, and leadership development through the JAG Career Association Build and maintain relationships with employers, community partners, and advisory members Track participant progress, services, and outcomes in JAGForce and maintain accurate records Support participants through program completion and provide 12 months of follow-up services Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuous program improvement effort Work Environment & Expectations Hybrid role combining remote work with regular in-person engagement at partner sites Frequent in-state travel required; occasional out-of-state travel (up to three times per year) Evening and weekend hours may be required to meet participant needs Complete required JAG trainings and attend the annual EDGE Conference Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Experience working with youth or young adults facing barriers to success Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple priorities Proficiency with technology (Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms, data systems) Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region Must successfully pass a background check prior to employment Preferred Experience in workforce development, case management, or alternative education Familiarity with trauma-informed practices Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Pay:
$52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
