Accessibility Services Advisor Job no: 11094 Work type: Full Time
Location:
Providence, Rhode Island
Categories:
Staff/Administration, Academic Year, Accessibility Services, Campus Based Summary Facilitates the provision of reasonable accommodations and advising to students with disabilities Essential Job Functions Develops and implements a comprehensive plan for disability services and in and out of classroom accommodations for students with disabilities Meets with prospective and current students and their families, as needed, and maintains records accordingly Provides disability services orientations to students, parents and faculty Educates faculty on best practices they can use while teaching students with disabilities including researching and recommending assistive technology Advises on personal and academic issues for students with disabilities Coordinates special workshops, instructional programs and placement testing, as necessary Manages compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act to consistently meet the needs of students Participates with various departmental or campus committees on disability related issues Proctors testing sessions, as necessary Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Minimum of a master's degree Moderate amount of experience advising students with disabilities or other related experience Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in special education, counseling or a related field of study
