REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION LEVEL
Two years of successful post-high school education.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED
Two years' experience of supporting students with disabilities and at least one year of experience in a position requiring knowledge and utilization of assistive technology (e.g., communication devices, static communication boards, accessibility features within technology)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination, keyboarding, and telephoning. Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Able to demonstrate skills and strategies to support students who need varying levels of support with communication, access, and other assistive technology needs. Ability to plan, model, and provide training, communicate effectively, and relate well with students and school personnel. Able to accurately collect and enter data when supporting students, staff, and the Assistive Tech Team. Able to maintain confidential information about students. Regular, reliable attendance. Valid driver's license and current insurance are required to use a personal vehicle for traveling between district buildings. The ability to work independently, prioritize, use professional discretion, and capable of quickly acquire new knowledge.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
This position serves in a variety of school settings. The essential functions and duties of the Assistive Technology Support Specialist position will be aligned with the needs of students and staff. Assigned work locations are subject to change as necessary Assist building staff and the Assistive Tech team with creating accessible materials (Optical Character Recognition, tactile, symbol-supported, enlarged print, digital access) Supports AT integrationist and IEP teams with developing individualized AT integration plans with clear goals, roles, and responsibilities Through observing, modeling, and coaching, supports integration of AT into the school environment (e.g., daily routines, instruction, transitions) as outlined in the IEP and AT integration plan Gathers feedback from Team members on building-wide & student-specific AT needs to bring back to the district Assistive Tech Team members. Complete student & staff specific check-ins to encourage use of AT tools, services, and provide support Provide additional training for students and staff on the utilization of AT tools in the classroom, building, and community Assists with the fidelity of implementation of the AT integration plan and provides recommendations to building teams to increase effectiveness and utilization Assists with managing the AT inventory, device checkout systems, and equipment tracking Assists with configuring AT devices, apps, software, and accessibility settings across platforms. Supports the AT Integrationist with tracking the submissions in the AT ordering processes Assists with inventory and monitors the Switch Toy Lending Library Assist with following up on IT requests & tracking the Personal Student Device database Assists with IT requests & tracking the database for loading specific software on AT devices
PAY INFORMATION

Pay Day:
Last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTE
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:45 pm OR 7:45 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break 0.96875 FTE, 38.75 hours per week, 9 months
