Under the general direction of the Director of Hospital Services, the Hospital Services Coordinator (HSC) I serves as a liaison between Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) and partner hospitals to develop a donation infrastructure, create donation awareness, marketing, visibility, and relationship building. The HSC I will ensure compliance of policies, regulations, and hospital agreements.WORK SCHEDULE
The Hospital Service Coordinator I is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The employee may occasionally have to work evenings or weekends as needed.KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Perform hospital rounds to meet unit leads on donation cases. Referral and donor review and feedback, both face-to-face and via email as appropriate. Variance documentation and follow-up as appropriate. Constructive follow-up on physician-related variances under direction or with assistance from preceptor/mentor. Lead donor debriefing and follow-up for continuous improvement. Data reporting to hospitals for continuous improvement Study and implement process improvement opportunities by way of data collection and analysis. Conduct 1-hour organ, tissue, and eye in-services, non-clinical related Best Practice lectures, and unit-specific in-services. Communicate regularly with hospital liaisons and leadership. Initiate access requests & maintain hospital access (badge/EMR) for TOSA employees. Assist with planning and implementation of donation awareness programs/events, including donor memorials. Assist performance improvement committees or hospital champions with hospital donation campaigns. Understand, maintain, and facilitate the implementation of assigned hospital agreements, profiles, and plans per TOSA policy and procedure. Attend and participate in all required departmental and organizational meetings. Participate in Human Centered Design and/or problem solving process improvement activities. Document interactions timely and accurately within the OPO's database.REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 1 to 2 years prior relevant work experience. 4-year degree in marketing, nursing, life science, public relations, journalism, education or related fields preferred. Ability to perform operational planning and focused strategy development to achieve organizational objectives. Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills; must be able to function well under potentially stressful circumstances due to the nature of the interactions required. Working knowledge of or ability to learn basic computer skills and electronic medical records. Experience with and ability to learn and apply problem-solving tools/methodologies. Valid driver license and proof of insurability for auto insurance, as some travel is required on a moderate to frequent basis (by personal or company vehicle, and/or commercial aircraft).
