Primary Purpose:
Provide districtwide leadership and coordination of dyslexia services to ensure high-quality instruction, data-driven decision making, and full compliance with state and federal requirements, resulting in improved student outcomes and consistent implementation of the Texas Dyslexia Handbook across all campuses.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for assignment
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Ability to analyze, interpret, and use student data Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of reading, writing, and spelling instructional strategies Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation as well as progress monitoring Training and effective use of Reading by Design Dyslexia Intervention Program
Experience:
5 years teaching experience Experience teaching students with dyslexia
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Coordination and Compliance Monitor and analyze districtwide dyslexia data, caseloads, and service delivery models to inform grouping structures and staffing recommendations. Ensure campuses implement dyslexia identification, services, and parent communication within required timelines in alignment with the Texas Dyslexia Handbook and applicable laws. Evaluate the effectiveness of dyslexia programs and services and recommend adjustments to improve student outcomes. Instructional Strategies Collaborate with the district assessment team to ensure the accurate administration, interpretation, and instructional use of dyslexia screening data in alignment with state requirements. Collaborate with campus staff to develop appropriate goals for students identified with dyslexia. Monitor the fidelity of implementation of Reading by Design Work with teachers to use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students identified with dyslexia. Work cooperatively with classroom and special education teachers to implement reading goals and designated supports for students identified with dyslexia. Participate in ARD Committee and 504 planning meetings as needed. Student Growth and Development Monitor assessment data and ongoing progress monitoring results of students identified with dyslexia to determine the effectiveness of plans and whether students are demonstrating expected rates of progress. Use dyslexia student data to facilitate positive changes in student action plans. Staff Development Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving in regard to students identified with dyslexia. Observe dyslexia teachers on a regular basis and provide feedback and coaching as needed to facilitate improvement and innovation using Reading by Design. Model implementation strategies as needed. Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, staff and parents in compliance with the current Texas Dyslexia Handbook. Other Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Ensure district and campus adherence to all dyslexia-related federal, state, and local requirements. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
