Administrative Assistant for Academic and Career Advising Salary $29,425.00 Annually Location Wharton, TX Job Type Support Staff Full Time Job Number 2603 S 020 Department Vice President of Access, Completion, and Transfer Division Academic and Career Advising Opening Date 04/01/2026 Closing Date 4/20/2026 10:00 AM Central Description Benefits Questions General Description The Administrative Assistant for Academic and Career Advising performs secretarial and administrative functions to assist the Director in carrying out his/her duties. Requirements This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. This position also requires two years of comparable office work experience in a higher education setting. Exceptional customer service skills and interpersonal skills are required. The person in this position must be proficient in the use of computers and related software for word processing, spread sheets, and database management. Excellent written and communication skills are required. This position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and with frequent interruptions. Strong organizational skills, initiative towards completion of assignments, and excellent follow through skills on all assignments and projects is required. The person in this position must have the ability to handle confidential information and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A criminal background check is required.
