Job Description
Qualifications:
Education, Experience and Certification(s) Associates degree from an accredited college or university required. Relevant degrees may include Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling preferred, or in lieu of degree a minimum (4) years of relevant experience. Two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities required. Experience working with transitioning students and/or young adults with disabilities, or other relevant, transferrable work experience, required. Prior experience public speaking, training, or teaching on a one-to-one basis is preferred. Prior experience in developing partnerships with employers and/or postsecondary educational institutions is preferred. Pass and maintain Department of Human Services background clearance is required. Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities A high-energy, dynamic self-starter and leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is able and eager to provide broad support to high school students with a variety of disabilities. Ability to follow a curriculum to train and teach in a group setting in an engaging and informative manner and customize activities as needed. A well-organized and self-directed team player. An individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must have knowledge of employment transition, supported employment, and job training issues for persons with disabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The primary work environment is an office setting with moderate noise and regular interruptions. The environment may also include a variety of specialized learning settings. The employee will be visiting a wide variety of community settings including but not limited to: restaurants, stores, recreation facilities, volunteer sites, schools and employer worksites which can vary with regards to noise level (up to loud) and weather/temperature conditions.
