Employment Specialist/Job Coach New Perspectives Orem, UT Job Details Part-time From $20 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Working with LGBTQ+ individuals Working with neurodivergent individuals Full Job Description Employment Specialist/Job Coach The Kreative Space - Orem, UT Part-Time (Full-time available after training & certification) About Us The Kreative Space at New Perspectives is a job training program for autistic & otherwise neurodiverse young adults. Our students work with employment specialists & job coaches to learn work skills while they make, market, and sell their own handmade products. Specialists also work with Vocational Rehabilitation to place clients in community jobs. Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and organized Employment Specialist to support neurodiverse individuals in obtaining and maintaining meaningful employment within the community. The Employment Specialist will provide job development, placement, coaching, and ongoing support services to individuals with barriers to employment, including those with disabilities, disadvantaged backgrounds, or other employment challenges. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships with employers and has a genuine interest in empowering autistic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ young adults. This role also involves job training students & job seekers at the Kreative Space in the woodshop & makerspace. Training is provided, including Employment Specialist Certification. Responsibilities Develop relationships with local employers and identify employment opportunities that align with participant goals. Conduct vocational assessments and identify employment goals, strengths, interests, and support needs. Provide job readiness training, including resume development, interview preparation, workplace communication, and soft skills coaching. Assist participants with job searches, applications, interviews, and onboarding processes. Provide on-site and off-site job coaching and support to ensure successful job retention. Advocate for participants and educate employers regarding accommodations and inclusive employment practices. Create a positive, inclusive, and sensory-friendly workspace. Teach & support students in making, marketing, and selling their handmade products. This will include woodshop & makerspace training to support students in developing job skills through creative projects. Qualifications Ability to organize and manage time & schedule to work independently Willingness to network, connect with employers, and create business relationships Willingness to train in job coaching and program procedures (training provided) Comfort working with autistic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ individuals Ability to teach and demonstrate job skills clearly and patiently Has a flexible schedule to support clients with various working times Valid Utah Drivers license & reliable transportation OR ability & willingness to use public transport Bonus Qualifications! - these are preferred but not required Previous woodworking experience (preferred) or experience in another creative medium Experience working with the neurodiverse and/or LGBTQ+ community ACRE Employment Specialist certified or Workplace Supports Job Coach certified Bilingual Spanish speaking & writing Enjoying geeky or pop culture hobbies (like D&D, gaming, or anime) is a plus! It will help you connect with our students! Schedule & Compensation Approximately 30-40 hours per week (flexible scheduling may be available) Compensation based on experience Training and ongoing professional development provided What type of products do we make?
