Job Description

Starr Hill Pathways Student Success Coordinator The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia $60,000 - $70,000 per year commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity United States, Virginia, Charlottesville 1215 Lee Street (Show on map) May 28, 2026 The Student Success Coordinator acts as a foundational professional within the University, responsible for organizing and aligning resources to achieve program objectives within scope, time, and quality constraints. The Coordinator ensures the efficient use of resources and provides data-driven analysis to support strategic decision-making. As an active learner and individual contributor, the Coordinator works under close supervision to bridge the gap between the University, school leadership, families, and community partners to promote academic, social, and emotional well-being across the SHP service area. Key Responsibilities Program Implementation & Project Coordination Coordinate the design and delivery of Success Coaching models for SHP students, facilitating a rolling caseload of students per year. Support students in the creation of comprehensive academic plans and facilitate participation in success coaching and external enrichment activities. Organize after-school programs, workshops, and summer activities designed to increase student engagement and support career aspirations. Partnership & Community Engagement Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with school leadership, local businesses, and service providers to support the SHP mission. Provide in-school support services to students in SHP Work closely with school staff to identify and address student needs Identify community gaps and work to align additional resources within the program environment. Attend, organize, and promote community events, including family nights and workshops, to increase engagement and resource accessibility for SHP families. Student & Family Support Provide direct support to students and families. Conduct regular check-ins with students via face-to-face meetings, school visits, and digital communication tools to ensure continuous support. Data Evaluation & Reporting Use specialized knowledge to monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of Success Coaching initiatives. Track program data in accordance with SHP goals to demonstrate impact.
Minimum Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree required (Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field preferred).
Experience:
2+ years of relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Key Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations Familiarity with local resources and support services in Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. Experience in community engagement, education, or social services. Experience with project coordination and program implementation. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain facts, policies, and practices to diverse populations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and data collection/reporting systems. Must be willing to work in person with a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands:
The job requires traveling to local Middle and High Schools to execute the Success Coaching Program. This is occasionally a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
Anticipated Hiring Range:
$60,000 - $70,000 per year commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity This position will remain open until filled. This is a Restricted position, and based on the availability of funding. This is an exempt level, benefited position. The University will perform background checks on all hires (if required) prior to employment.
