Comprehensive Harm Reduction Peer Recovery Support Specialist

CHR Peer Recovery Support Specialist Position Description:

The Peer Recovery Specialist/ Recovery Coach is responsible for the engagement and linking of individuals to Community Access Network's HOPE Initiative Comprehensive Harm Reduction program. The goal of this position is to extend the reach of services beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking to achieve or sustain recovery from substance use disorders (SUDs). Also, to grow relationships of safety and trust to engage individuals in safe substance use practices and safe sexual health practices. General qualification guidelines : High school diploma or equivalent combination of training and life experience, sustained substance use (or co-occurring) recovery for three year minimum (recovery capital, prior recovery experience considered), knowledge of addiction treatment and recovery resources, knowledge of community resources. Eligible to certify in Virginia as Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). CPRS currently preferred.

Duties and responsibilities:

1) Collaborate with Peer participants to identify needs for recovery support, barriers to needed support, and develop recovery plans; 2) Link Peers with community resources as needed; 3) Assist Peers with follow-through on recovery plans; 4) Provide one on one coaching, telephone supports, visits, and other supports regularly to maintain connection; 5) Provide other emotional supports, as identified by the participant; 6) Provide education on CHR and sexual health to participants; 7) Provide concrete assistance to help others accomplish tasks such as obtaining transportation, employment, health care, childcare, and life skills training; 8) Assist in providing affiliation supports such as drug-free socialization and recreational activities; 9) Integrate strength and evidence-based practices into daily interactions with participants; 10) Complete all required documentation of services in participant's record; 11) Other duties as assigned.

Be able to describe your personal, effective recovery pathway Ability to maintain clear role boundaries (coach is not therapist, sponsor, spiritual advisor, doctor, etc.) Ability to work in small or large group settings Extensive knowledge of community resources for persons in recovery Attitude of empathy, caring, and concern to bolster peers' self-esteem and confidence Good oral and written communication skills Group facilitation and problem-solving skills Organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills Knowledge of general office procedures (answering phone, taking messages, copying, filing, etc.) Willingness to participate in orientation and ongoing training as required Willingness to support different pathways to recovery Willingness to receive supervision and provide feedback Demonstrate knowledge of local support groups and recovery support options through action and language Valid Virginia driver's license Willingness to submit to pre-employment drug screen

Salary Range :

Based on qualifications and experience This position works _40_ hours per week and will not be asked to work overtime.

Pay:

$45,000.00 per year
