Full Job Description General Summary Pay:
$18.00•$22.00 per hour (Once certified)
Note:
New hires begin at a training/onboarding rate of $13.00•$14.00 per hour and transition immediately to the premium coaching rate upon successful completion of STEM Coach Certification.

Locations Hiring:
Greater Richmond Area (On-site/In-person) Job Overview We are seeking energetic, professional Lead STEM Instructors to deliver high-quality, inquiry-based learning across our Virginia school district partnerships. In this role, you will coach students through hands-on discovery to transform learning experiences , shifting away from rigid instruction to a dynamic, curiosity-driven coaching mindset. Instructors will facilitate proprietary STEM curriculum while ensuring adherence to safety and instructional standards.
Key Contract Deliverables & Responsibilities Instructional Coaching:
Deliver scheduled classes of active, hands-on student engagement using STEM curriculum comprising various engineering and computational thinking programs.
Safety & Compliance:
Maintain a physically and emotionally secure environment, collaborating closely with the host school / district on-site staff.
Event Facilitation:
Lead Family and Community Engagement events, fostering intergenerational digital literacy and skill-building.
Materials & Travel Logistics:
Manage, transport, and set up all proprietary STEM materials and specialized curriculum. Must have reliable personal transportation to commute to designated local school / community sites and occasional travel to the main corporate office in Raleigh, NC and/or a regional VA site for training and resource swaps.
Administrative Reporting:
Maintain accurate student attendance, pseudonym progress reports, and Coach service logs to support operational and financial requirements.
Professional Requirements Certification:
Must complete the STEM Coach Certification provided by STEM For Kids® to unlock the premium instructional pay rate and master our proprietary coaching techniques.
Education:
Associate degree in science required; Bachelor's degree in STEM or Education preferred (students with a degree-in-progress are considered).
Experience:
2+ years working with school-age children in teaching, group tutoring, or camp settings.
Travel & Vehicles:
Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and proof of valid automobile insurance. Ability to drive to local school assignments and commute for training/resource swaps.
Background Check:
Must pass a comprehensive background check upon hire and every two years thereafter (meeting strict district and state guidelines for working with children).
Physical Requirements & Schedule Environment:
Must be able to stand for up to 95% of the program and engage in high-energy activities (running, jumping, floor-level work).
Afternoon Availability:
Availability starting at 2:30 PM is essential for afterschool programming.
Summer/Intersession:
Availability for morning blocks (8:30 AM•12:30 PM) during summer camp sessions (starting as early as July) is a plus. Benefits Progressive pay scale with immediate earning bump upon certification.
