Job Description

Senior Teaching Advising Counselor (TAC)Position (2026-2027 School Year) Massanutten Academy - Woodstock, Virginia Massanutten Academy is seeking an energetic, dependable, and student-focused professional to serve as a Senior Teaching Advising Counselor (TAC) for the 2026-2027 academic year. Located in the beautiful foothills of the Massanutten Mountains in Woodstock, Virginia, Massanutten Academy provides a structured environment that emphasizes leadership, character development, academic achievement, and personal responsibility. The successful candidate will play a vital role in cadet supervision, residential life, discipline, uniform management, and cadet support services. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents, military programs, residential life, athletics, or youth development preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain discipline while building positive relationships with cadets
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required Duties and ResponsibilitiesSenior Teaching Advising Counselor (TAC)
  • Supervise other TAC in residential and campus settings
  • Maintain a duty log documenting cadet activities, incidents, and daily operations
  • Conduct regular room inspections and monitor cadet living areas
  • Ensure the safety, welfare, accountability, and discipline of cadets
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for cadets
  • Enforce Academy policies and cadet regulations in a fair, firm, and consistent manner
  • Assist with evening, weekend, and special event supervision Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend Academy events, including parades, ceremonies, social functions, awards programs, and graduation activities
  • Communicate effectively with cadets, parents, faculty, and staff
  • Support the Academy's mission of leadership development and character education
  • Maintain professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Commandant of Cadets or Head of School Employment Requirements
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment
  • Ability to meet all employment eligibility requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
