BENEFITS
Retirement Advisor for WV State Employees, Teachers and School Service Personnel Nature of Work Retirement Advisor under general supervision, prepares and processes benefit estimates and retirement calculations for regular and disability retirees by calculating total service and verifying contributions and retirement eligibility; responds to requests for information via written correspondence and telephone. Performs related work as required. Examples of Work Verifies members' years of service and contributions. Conducts retirement counseling sessions either face to face or via telephone. Calculates member and beneficiary benefits. Computes "Estimates" of retirement benefits. May train other Retirement Advisors. May lead and review work of other Accounting Technicians. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Ability to research and audit a wide variety of data and information. Capacity to provide oral and written communication to a wide variety of people. Ability to detect and correct errors in arithmetic or to refer to proper source for correction
Minimum Qualifications Training:
Education equivalent to graduation from standard four-year high school.
Experience:
Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in general clerical work, one year of which must have included payroll or benefits related experience.
Substitution:
Successful completion of study in an accredited college or university, or related business or vocational school training may be substituted for the general experience on a year-for-year basis. OR Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience.
