Home Care Aide (HCA) / Caregiver supports clients with difficulties completing basic tasks or Activities of Daily Living (ADL), like people with disabilities, the elderly or clients suffering from mental disorders. Their main duties comprise of medication reminder, helping clients complete personal care tasks like bathing, dressing, or grooming, meal prep and following the clients' prescribed Plan of Care (POC). Client needs may range for Companion Care to Alzheimer/Dementia, Parkinson's or Hospice Care. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
  • Serving as a companion to clients 
  • Transporting clients to and from appointments, errands, activities, etc.
  • Medication reminder
  • Preparing meals
  •  Encouraging clients to eat a proper diet and drink adequate fluids
  • Performing light housekeeping duties (ex. wash client's dishes, client's laundry, etc.)
  • Providing bathing and dressing assistance
  • Assisting with changing incontinent products
  • Encouraging socialization and participation in community activities
  • Assisting with transfer and mobility
  • Following a client's care plan
  • Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment
  •  Understanding what to do in an emergency situation
  •  Communicating with families and office staff regarding changes in client's mental, physical, or emotional condition or home situation
  • Keeping proper care records and submitting prescribed Care Notes in a timely manner
