CPR Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Medication Technician will assist the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities with daily living activities in the care facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer the Supportive Care function which assists residents with activities of daily living. Order medications, dispense medications, and maintain medication administration records. Assist with serving meals at mealtimes and snacks at snack time. Assist with Activities Program. Attend monthly in-service provided by the facility- one hour a month, twelve hours per year. Maintain current first aid and CPR Receive special training on caring for residents with dementia. Receive special training on caring for residents with developmental disabilities which includes Program Design, the Individual Program Plan (IPP), and recording progress toward the IPP goals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age Six months of prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities Able to pass a physical exam and a criminal record review Current training in first aid and
CPR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting. Able to lift 100 pounds to assist fallen residents. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions. May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.), and chemical hazards.
SPECIAL SKILLS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE JOB
Have the personal characteristics, physical energy, and competence to work effectively with older residents, families, and staff. Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients. Basic understanding of medical terminology.
