Caregiver/IHSS Worker

Schedule:

Approximately 13 (13:09) hours per week. Flexible schedule available. Maximum of 52:37 hours per month. About the Role Young professional seeking a personable, reliable, and adaptable Caregiver/In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Worker to assist in home. This position starts as temporary with the opportunity to become permanent. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate is someone who can easily build rapport, takes constructive feedback well, and follows instructions carefully.

Tasks and approved hours are subject to change based on IHSS program approval.

Key Responsibilities Personal Care:

Provide physical assistance with daily personal care routines as needed, ensuring respectful and dignified care.

Household Duties:

Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing general domestic tasks, light housekeeping, laundry, and preparing nutritious diet-compliant meals.

Transportation & Errands:

Use of your personal vehicle for errands, grocery shopping, and transportation to appointments.

Medical Adaptability:

Be open to working with and learning about complex medical conditions and alternative medicine practices.

Requirements & Qualifications Transportation:

Must have a reliable car, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance. Willingness to use your vehicle for work-related errands is required.

Physical Demands:

This is important. You must be able to easily lift heavy items safely. The role requires frequent stretching, standing, and bending.

Strictly Fragrance-Free:

Due to severe medical sensitivities, the caregiver must be completely fragrance-free for employment. This means absolutely no personal fragrance items (perfumes, colognes, scented lotions, body wash/soap, essential oils) and no use of harsh chemicals.

Cat/Service Animal Friendly:

Must be comfortable working in a home with cats (only for now).

Professionalism:

Must maintain a compassionate, neutral, and professional work environment. To ensure a welcoming setting, discussion of politics is discouraged.

Experience:

Prior experience is great, but not required. A willingness to learn, follow detailed care plans, and communicate effectively is most important.

IHSS Requirements:

Must be willing to register as an IHSS Worker with San Diego Public Authority. Will need to be able to attend the mandatory San Diego County IHSS orientation and pass a Department of Justice background check to become an approved provider. Students or those seeking flexible schedule are welcome to apply.
