ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you looking for a meaningful, part-time role where you can truly connect with someone? Life Works is seeking an empathetic, reliable, and attentive Direct Support Professional to join our care team in Point Loma. In this rewarding role, you will provide vital daily support to an incredible individual who experiences Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy, helping them live comfortably, safely, and fully both at home and within the community.

MEET THE INDIVIDUAL

The person you will support is a true homebody who loves a cozy afternoon filled with good books, movies, and engaging stories. They have a fantastic, vibrant sense of humor! While they use non-traditional speech, they are an excellent and clear communicator, utilizing a dedicated typing device, expressive facial features, and distinct gestures to share their thoughts, choices, and laughs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position beautifully blends dedicated, collaborative personal care with light homemaking to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Providing respectful, dignified personal care including assistance with routine feeding, brief changes, and refreshing bed baths.

Mobility & Safe Transfers:

Utilizing a Hoyer lift comfortably for transitions to and from bed and their electric wheelchair.

Household Support:

Helping with light meal preparation, washing dishes, mopping floors, doing laundry, and maintaining a tidy living space.

Community Access:

Accompanying and supporting the individual in their electric wheelchair during occasional doctor appointments, or community events.
