The successful candidate will also be able to provide excellent customer service. In this dynamic role, you will stay overnight in clients' homes, providing loving, attentive care for pets while ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The sitter will also drive to other client's homes to provide drop-in visits or a few consecutive hours of pet sitting. This position offers a unique opportunity to build trusting relationships with pets and their owners, delivering peace of mind through personalized attention and professional animal handling. Your personable approach and animal expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families. Responsibilities Stay overnight in clients' homes to provide 16 hours of pet supervision and care per day Feed, administer medication, and ensure hydration for pets according to specific instructions Engage pets with play, exercise, and companionship to promote their mental and physical health Monitor pet behavior and health, recognizing signs of distress or illness, and communicate concerns appropriately Maintain cleanliness of pet areas, bedding, and feeding stations to uphold hygiene standards Follow detailed care plans provided by pet owners, including special needs or medical requirements Walk dogs in a safe and responsible manner. Have reliable transportation to travel to client's homes to provide care. Be able to recognize signs of distress in companion animals and take appropriate action. Be willing to participate in continued education related to animal care. Provide basic care for companion animals, such as feeding, watering, medicating and cleaning up after them. Make phone calls to potential clients to schedule consultations. Conduct meetings with clients to develop a bond with the client and pets, learn pet's routine, and go over expectations. Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with clients, coworkers, and business owner.
Qualifications:
Eligible to work in the U.S and at least 18 years of age. Have a valid driver's license. Have a reliable insured vehicle to arrive at jobs within 1 hour of scheduled start time and to transport animals in the case of emergency. Have daily access to the internet and the ability to communicate effectively by returning emails, texts, and phone calls promptly. Commit to at least 6 months of working with Stay and Play. Be able to provide professional pet-care-related references. Pass a current background check Complete Pet CPR and first Aid Training (online, $50 or less, and you will be reimbursed in 3 months if still with Stay and Play). Be physically fit and able to work and commute in all types of weather (this is a VERY active position that requires hours of energy, even on rainy and hot days.) Have at least one year of experience with, a love of and a desire to work with dogs and/or cats and other companion animals. Love people in addition to animals (this is just as much a customer service position as it is a pet care position.) Be 100% reliable (Stay and Play sitters do their best to cover in cases of emergencies, but this is not a job where "calling out sick" is tolerated, as the pets in your care depend on you.) Have the ability to communicate effectively with Stay and Play, fellow employees and clients, by returning emails, phone calls and text messages promptly. Have the ability to take this job SERIOUSLY- you will not just be sitting on the couch watching tv. Be organized and detail oriented. This role is perfect for energetic animal lovers eager to provide top-tier care in a home environment. If you thrive on building bonds with animals and enjoy flexible yet responsible work that makes a real difference—this is your opportunity!
