Direct Care Staff

Now Hiring! Full time $20.00/hour with benefits or Part time $18.50/hour (no benefits) Focus Center for Autism is currently hiring Full time direct care staff for our Therapeutic Group Home located in Barkhamsted. The Shannon House program is a DCF-funded home that houses 3-5 young men on the autism spectrum under direct, 24/7 care. The ideal candidates should have the following:

• Kindness, patience, understanding
• A willingness to learn and thrive under Focus' structure
• Flexibility in hours/scheduling
• A compassionate attitude towards working with young adults on the spectrum At Focus, we pride ourselves on being different
• utilizing milieu therapy in a way that isn't institutional or hard-line.

Our residents thrive in an environment that welcomes change while maintaining structure that is important. Direct-care staff are encouraged to bring their personalities out while working alongside our boys and help them feel empowered to be who they want to be in the best ways possible! Come cook a meal with them, head out to the YMCA, take them for a walk, teach them things in a way that only YOU could teach them…the possibilities to make a difference are endless! If you are interested in working with a team dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of others, QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's degree or 60 college credits
• Clear written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience working with people on the autism spectrum and other related disabilities.
• Driver's license with clean driving record
