out of 5 stars We are hiring per diem Companion IIs to join our dynamic care team at Athena Care at Home in New Haven County! Weekly pay at $17 an hour. This on-the-road position requires the candidate to have an active driver's license and an insured vehicle, and must be willing to travel throughout the county. Mileage is reimbursed. This position provides supervision of safety and assistance with activities of daily living to clients in their home. You provide compassionate nonmedical personal care to support clients living with physical, emotional, or cognitive impairments.
Education & Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, and eating/feeding. Medication reminders. Housekeeping including vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, trash removal, laundry, changing bed sheets, etc. Drive clients to and from planned outings, events, or appointments, as needed. Provide emotional and social support to clients. Assist with grocery shopping and meal preparation. Monitor the skin health of the client. Application and maintenance of prosthetics and orthotics. Report any changes in the client's status to appropriate team members.
Specific Requirements:
Excellent customer service and listening skills. Must be at least 18 years old. Must have an active driver's license and an insured vehicle. Access to a working telephone for communication with the client, family, and the team. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with the client, family, and office staff. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Demonstrate the ability to make appropriate professional judgments. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Able to provide covered Homemaker service according to the client's care plan, respond appropriately to client's needs and reports changes in the client's condition to the supervising Manager. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
