Companion/Caregiver

Responsibilities:

• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
• Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Prepare meals and assist with feeding if necessary
• Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
• Monitor and document clients' vital signs and report any changes to the appropriate personnel
• Assist with mobility and transfers, including using proper lifting techniques
• Help clients with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and tidying up
• Accompany clients to appointments or social outings as needed
• Follow all HIPAA regulations to ensure client privacy and confidentiality

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively
• Understanding of social work systems and resources to provide appropriate support to clients
• Experience in patient care, preferably in a nursing home or similar setting
• Familiarity with medication administration procedures and protocols
• Ability to lift and transfer clients safely using proper body mechanics
