Job Description

Job Overview The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual who is committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. The DSP will work in various settings, including group homes and nursing facilities, ensuring that residents receive the care and support they need to thrive. Duties Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Support individuals in developing life skills and promoting independence. Monitor and document residents' health status, including vital signs and behavioral changes. Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity is maintained at all times. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to create individualized care plans. Participate in recreational activities and engage residents in social interactions to foster community integration. Maintain a clean and safe environment within the facility or group home. Skills Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy principles. Experience in nursing home or group home settings is preferred. Familiarity with medication administration protocols. Basic cooking skills for meal preparation tailored to dietary needs. Ability to take vital signs accurately and respond appropriately to health concerns. Certification in CPR is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents and their families. Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
