This role focuses on non-clinical support—no medical procedures or medication administration—and is ideal for compassionate, reliable individuals who enjoy helping others in a home or community setting. Key Responsibilities Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Assist with bathing, grooming, hair care, oral hygiene, and dressing Support with toileting and incontinence care Provide assistance with mobility, transfers, and positioning Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs): Light housekeeping, such as laundry, sweeping, dishwashing, and tidying Meal preparation, planning, and basic kitchen tasks Grocery shopping and running errands (if permitted by employer/client)
Companionship & Support:
Offer conversation, emotional support, and social engagement Accompany clients to appointments, community activities, or walks Encourage safe and healthy routines
Safety & Observation:
Monitor client wellbeing and report changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition Ensure a clean, safe living environment Follow care plans and adhere to non-medical boundaries Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Previous caregiving, home care, or customer service experience is a plus Ability to lift, transfer, and support clients as needed Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor Valid driver's license (if transportation assistance is required) Must pass background checks as required by employer or state regulations Skills & Competencies Dependability and strong work ethic Respect for client privacy and confidentiality Ability to follow instructions and adapt to client preferences Time management and organization Basic household management skills Working Conditions Work may be performed in private homes, assisted living environments, or community settings Flexible scheduling may include mornings, evenings, weekends, or split shifts Physical requirements may include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, and assisting with mobility About the Role The Non-Medical PCA plays an essential role in improving clients' quality of life by offering supportive assistance that promotes independence, dignity, and comfort.
