Assigned service area; weekday availability with occasional weekends or after-hours Role Summary As a Hospice Aide (CNA) - PRN at Arc Hospice & Palliative Care, you will provide hands-on personal care and compassionate support to patients and families during end-of-life care. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, this role supports comfort, dignity, and safety while responding flexibly to patient needs across the service area. Overview The Hospice Aide is a trained caregiver who provides personal care and support services to hospice patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse Case Manager or the Manager or Director of Clinical Services. This role promotes patient comfort, dignity, and safety by assisting with daily activities and observing and reporting changes in patient condition. Assignments are based on the individualized plan of care and the aide's training and competency. Key Responsibilities Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, and skin care as assigned Assist with ambulation, transfers, repositioning, and range-of-motion exercises as directed Observe and report changes in patient physical or emotional condition to the supervising nurse Assist with meals, feeding, and hydration support according to the plan of care Provide companionship, emotional support, and respectful presence to promote comfort and dignity Take and record vital signs when trained and directed by the nurse Maintain a clean and safe care environment, including light housekeeping related to patient care Provide short-term respite support to family caregivers during scheduled visits when appropriate Document care provided accurately and timely in accordance with agency policy Follow standard precautions, infection control practices, and HIPAA privacy requirements Participate in team meetings and required in-service training sessions Deliver care in any setting where the patient resides, including private homes and licensed facilities Provide weekend or after-hours support when directed by clinical leadership Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Active certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with completion of a state-approved training program Current CPR certification Ability to read, follow, and document written care instructions accurately Understanding of hospice philosophy and the needs of terminally ill individuals Ability to work in home and facility settings with reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Demonstrated empathy, sensitivity, and ability to support patients and families from diverse backgrounds Commitment to Arc Hospice & Palliative Care's mission and values If you're interested in this opportunity, please speak with your current supervisor before applying.
