Job Description

Caregiver Grayson, GA 30017 $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time $16 an hour - Part-time, Full-time The days-hours could be flexible. We would just have to work around his PT, OT, exercise class schedule. Caregiver List 1. Mobility & Transfer Assistance
  • Help with transferring: bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to toilet, in/out of a car.
  • Use a gait belt for safe standing and pivoting.
  • Encourage use of a cane or walker on the right (stronger) side.
  • Reposition in bed or chair every 2 hours to prevent pressure sores.
  • Perform passive or active range-of-motion exercises on the left arm and leg to prevent contractures and maintain circulation. 2. Personal Care (ADLs)
Bathing:
Assist with sponge baths or shower chair use; pay special attention to left side for skin breakdown.
    Dressing:
    Start with the left (weaker) arm first when putting on a shirt, and remove the stronger side first when undressing.
      Toileting:
      Provide a commode, raised toilet seat, or urinal; assist with hygiene if needed.
        Grooming:
        Help with shaving, brushing teeth, hair care—adapt tools with larger grips if needed. 3. Fall Prevention & Safety
        • Remove tripping hazards (rugs, cords); ensure clear paths 4. Health Monitoring
        • Check for skin redness or breakdown on the left side (heel, elbow, hip).
        • Monitor blood pressure, pulse, and temperature as directed.
        • Observe for shoulder subluxation (drooping of left shoulder) and support with a lap tray or sling if prescribed.
        • Note signs of left-sided neglect (ignoring that side of the body or space) and gently cue him. 5. Emotional & Cognitive Support
        • Acknowledge frustration or depression related to loss of function.
        • Speak from his right side if he has left-sided neglect.
        • Encourage independence in tasks he can safely perform with one hand (e.g., eating, simple grooming).
        • Engage in reminiscence, simple games, or music to maintain mental stimulation. 6. Nutrition & Hydration
        • Prepare easy-to-eat meals (cut food, adaptive utensils with large handles).
        • Use a non-slip mat and plate guard if he eats with right hand only.
        • Encourage fluids, using a straw or weighted cup if tremors present.
        • Monitor for swallowing difficulties (coughing, pocketing food on left side of mouth). 7. Medication & Appointments
        • Organize pillbox; administer medications as prescribed.
        • Accompany to medical visits; report changes in mobility, skin integrity, or mood.
        • Assist with follow-up physical or occupational therapy exercises at home. 8. Household & Errands
        • Light housekeeping (ensuring clear paths).
        • Laundry (especially incontinence or bedding changes). 9. Communication & Documentation
        • Keep a daily log: bowel/bladder movements, food intake, falls or near-falls, skin condition, mood.
        • Report sudden changes (increased confusion, fever, redness, swelling of left leg) to family or physician. Immediate Red Flags (Seek medical help):
        • New weakness on the right side or face drooping.
        • Slurred speech or inability to understand.
        • Severe headache or fall with head impact.
        • Shortness of breath or chest pain.

Duties Provide attentive care for children and infants, including feeding, diapering, bathing, and dressing Support early childhood development through age-appropriate activities that promote learning and social skills Assist individuals with disabilities by implementing personalized care plans and encouraging independence Manage behavior with positive reinforcement techniques and gentle guidance to foster a respectful environment Maintain safety protocols such as first aid readiness and emergency response procedures at all times Support toddlers' needs by engaging in play, teaching basic skills, and encouraging exploration Collaborate with families or guardians to ensure consistent care routines and communicate progress or concerns effectively Experience Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying or classroom settings Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices Hands-on experience in childcare environments such as daycare centers or early learning programs Familiarity with behavior management strategies tailored for young children and individuals with special needs Certification in first aid and CPR is highly preferred to ensure safety during emergencies Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with individuals with disabilities or special needs Experience in teaching or caregiving roles that involve nurturing toddlers or infants is a strong plus
