She is still very self sufficient, but has very limited short term memory and is unable to do certain things by herself such as completing laundry. Most importantly she needs company and someone to engage with her mentally, as well as light exercise and walks. Personality Fair warning! My mother is very zainy, stubborn, and negative. Yet she also likes to laugh, is friendly once she likes you, and will sometimes say inappropriate things for "shock value". She does NOT enjoy having a caretaker come, so we are looking for someone who may be able to win her over time, and hang in there when she is at her most difficult. Looking for someone who can "keep it real" with her, not be overly fake, and even indulge in some negativity and trash talking in order to connect with her. Not looking for someone who tries to always be positive but someone who can validate her negative feelings and then deflect. Must be able to roll with white lies to keep my mom calm and happy. We ask that you not remind her of her memory problems, such as asking if she remembers certain details from last time, and instead frame things in a way that makes her feel capable and normal. Duties Offer companionship to promote social engagement and emotional well-being Assist with laundry Prepare freezer meals on occasion as needed Observe and communicate with family if you notice any changes or abnormalities Engage in meaningful activities tailored to her interests, including memory exercises or recreational outings
