Our services are designed to enhance the lives of our residents in a meaningful way, but we can't do it alone. We are seeking dedicated Caregivers to join our diverse team in Elgin and be a part of our life-changing mission. We are hiring immediately and offer paid training! We have flexible full-time, part-time and on-call shifts available with a starting base rate of $18/hr (plus additional differentials of $1 for night shift and $1 for weekends for AMs and PMs). The hourly rate for IHR /On-Call positions is $21.00 (plus additional differential of $1 for weekends). We provide free DSP training. CNAs and DSPs are encouraged to apply. Certified CNAs start at a base rate of $20/hr and DSPs can start at up to $19.50/hr based on years of experience as a certified DSP . Joining Marklund is about being part of something bigger. Who We Are:
Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With two residential locations - the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day School offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program at each site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklund and those who come in from the community. You will make a difference in the lives of our residents who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the following ways: + Assist with day program activities which include helping ensure the residents have the opportunity to achieve their goals for the day + Groom residents by brushing their hair, teeth and shaving + Assist residents with bathing, incontinence and dressing + Feed residents and document their food and liquid intake + Maintain a clean and safe environment for our residents + Assist residents with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed + Communicate with the healthcare team Please note that this job summary is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. + High school diploma or equivalent + Caregiver experience helpful, but not required (we provide paid on-site training for your Direct Support Professional certification) + Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements An ideal candidate will have an exceptional work ethic, positive attitude, and strong commitment to providing excellent care to our residents along with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and the desire to contribute to a strong culture where the entire team works together for the good of each resident.
