Full Job Description Schedule:
M-F (8a-4p) - on call every 5-6 weekends Join Our Team as a Foster Care Worker! Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of children and families? The Wichita Children's Home is looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented, and resourceful individual to join our team! About the
Role:
As a Foster Care Worker, you'll be at the heart of our mission, providing essential clerical and recordkeeping support to the Foster Care Director and Case Managers while building positive relationships in our community. Your role will directly impact children and foster families by ensuring they receive the care, support, and resources they need.
What You'll Do:
Be a Hero for
Kids :
Screen and assess children for victimization through meaningful conversations and reviews of case information.
Matchmaker Extraordinaire :
Place children in loving, licensed family foster homes that meet their unique needs.
Connector of Resources :
Refer children and foster families to specialized services and community resources. Be a
Calming Presence :
Use compassion and de-escalation techniques to help children transition into foster homes smoothly. Keep Safety as a
Top Priority :
Develop safety plans for children and foster families as needed.
Community Liaison :
Be the bridge between children, families, and the Wichita Children's Home.
What We Expect:
You're a scheduling wizard—95% of projects completed on time? No problem! You're organized, communicative, and flexible, thriving both solo and in team environments. You bring compassion, patience, and understanding to every interaction, especially when working with special needs youth. You have a valid Kansas driver's license and are comfortable with basic computer tasks.
Your Background:
High school diploma or GED required; experience with children is a plus! Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for navigating tough conversations with sensitivity. You can write reports, interpret safety rules, and present information confidently.
